This chapter discusses the importance of affordable rental housing in the national housing policy and its different models of delivery. It focuses on three models of affordable rental housing delivery – public, private and the informal sector – through an analysis of both national and international practices. This chapter has the following intended leaning objectives: ● To understand the importance of rental housing in developing countries like India and the challenges associated with it. ● To build an understanding of the various strategies for providing affordable rental housing through national and international case studies.
